Unfamiliar or suspicious email addresses
This email is designed to mimic a real Instagram support email, but this email address doesn’t seem genuine. Phishing emails often look very close to the real thing so it’s important to double check the sender address before clicking any links or attachments.
Bad formatting and an unusual requests
There are two things to note here. First, the instagram username seems to be missing from the email. Often phishing emails will lack key identifying details. Second, it is not normal for a password to change on it’s own. It would be a good idea to test the password to verify the validity of this email.
Suspicious addresses
Phishing emails will often contain small, almost unnoticeable inconsistencies. Many times, recipients don’t even notice these warning signs and click the link without hesitation. Before clicking any links or attachments, it’s a good idea to scan over the email to check for inconsistencies like this.
